China Consumers Association Looks at Health Food Complaints

For the first half of 2021, the China Consumers Association received 27,284 food complaints, accounting for 5.2% of the total number of complaints. It’s worth of notice that 3,943 health food complaints cases accounted for 14.5% of food category complaints. Among them, there are 1547 quality complaints, 169 safety complaints, 174 price complaints, 25 measurement complaints, 71 counterfeit complaints, 278 contract complaints, 831 false propaganda complaints, 11 human dignity complaints, 686 after-sales service complaints, and 151 other complaints. Still, according to the General Administration of Market Supervision’s food safety supervision and sampling, 38,644 batches of health food were sampled and 210 batches failed, with a pass rate of 99.46%, which is lower than the overall failure rate.
