Beijing issues 100 million yuan in coupons to encourage sports consumption

China’s State Council recently issued the National Fitness Plan (2021-2025), introducing measures to better help people participate in sports and improve their physical quality.

In line with the plan, and to better meet people’s fitness and health needs, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports and the Sports Section of China’s ecommerce giant JD.com recently launched the Second August 8 Beijing Sports Consumption Festival. The event will be held both on and offline from July 23 to August 11.

The event includes four sections, spanning online purchases, online bookings, online competitions, and online education. Additionally, more than 100 million yuan in coupons will be issued to citizens through JD’s event page. These coupons can be used to buy sports equipment.

Data shows that between July 23 and August 8, stimulated by the consumption festival and the Tokyo Olympic Games, JD Sports’ turnover in the Beijing market increased by 100% month-on-month.

Using the JD app, consumers can find promotions for the sales event by searching “Beijing Sports Consumption Festival” or “Sports Consumption Festival.”

For the first time, the event has established a digital renminbi shopping section to provide citizens with a new consumption experience that is smart, safe, and convenient. (Source: china.org.cn)
