DSM, the world’s leading supplier of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), recently announced that the safety application for six synthetic strains of HMOs submitted to the Chinese authorities has been approved, signifying an important step for the development of HMOs in China. In overseas markets, HMOs have become the most popular functional ingredients nowadays, with emerging research results and the trend of adding HMOs to formula milk. DSM estimates that it will take at least four years for HMOs to reach commercialization in China, and many companies have been favoring this huge market by planning for its layout early.
