In 2020, due to the release of health food short videos, Mr. Li’s account with 300,000 followers was permanently blocked by the short video platform on the grounds of suspected medical risks. In response, Mr. Li sued the short video company.
The court found that Mr. Li advertised a number of foreign health food products through his account in the absence of qualification, with descriptions including “lowering blood pressure”, “treating stomach disease and gastritis”, “dissolving blood clots”, and “anti-tumor”. Therefore, the court ruled that the act of permanently closing Mr. Li’s account was not improper and did not constitute a breach of contract. (Source: sohu.com)
