Plant-Based Omega-3 Fatty Acids Become Trending in the Market

The global market size of Omega-3 fatty acids reached RMB 16.69 million yuan (USD $2.43 billion) in 2022 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.8% from 2023 to 2030, which is higher than other nutrients. Among the many ingredients for plant-based Omega-3 fatty acids, algae are comparably mature in commercial applications. In the past few years, Omega-3 fatty acids from a new plant seed called Buglossoides arvensis have become increasingly popular, since it contains almost as much Omega-3 fatty acids as fish oil.
