Chlamydomonas Reinhardtii (White Algae) Included in New Food Raw Materials Termination Review Directory

The National Health Commission (NHC) released updates regarding the termination of the review process for certain new food raw materials. Among the additions was “Chlamydomonas Reinhardtii (White Algae)” (later renamed to “Chlamydomonas Reinhardtii”). According to the NHC’s review opinion, the product, initially submitted as “Chlamydomonas Reinhardtii (White Algae)” and later renamed, is derived from the algae species Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. It is produced through light-exclusion cultivation, expansion in heterotrophic conditions, drying, and pulverization, resulting in a light-green powder. This product is deemed substantially equivalent to Chlamydomonas Reinhardtii, as announced in the NHC’s 2022 No. 2 Bulletin. Consequently, the review process is terminated, and compliance with the mentioned bulletin is required. (Source: National Health Commission, NHC)
