On May 12, the draft regulation titled “Provisions of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on Promoting Innovation and Development of the Synthetic Biology Industry” was officially released along with relevant explanatory notes. Public comments are invited until June 13. The draft aims to address bottlenecks in raw material innovation by aligning review procedures across central and local levels for “three new foods,” new cosmetic ingredients, new health food ingredients, and agricultural GMO products. The regulation is expected to help companies reduce R&D and production costs while improving efficiency in value transformation. (Source: Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress)
