Sensible move from the U.S. Administration and good work by NPA and its members. As the U.S. supplement industry doesn’t really have an alternate source for these ingredients let alone a U.S. domestic source. Commonsense prevails, hopefully the list of exempted ingredients will expand especially on the botanical ingredient side of the business.
Per the 37-page Annex II of the executive order which put the tariffs into effect, exempt ingredients include:
- Vitamin A
- Vitamin B1, B2, B5, B6, B12
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin E
- Folate
- Niacin and Niacinamide
- CoQ10
- Choline
- Fatty Acids of animal and vegetable origin
- Calcium
- Barium
- Magnesium
- Iron
- Manganese
- Copper
- Zinc
- Chromium
- Silicon
- Selenium
- Otherwise unspecified minerals
- Lysine and unspecified amino acids and amino acid esters
