Recently, the Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation released its 2023 Q1 Advertising Monitoring Report, which showed that the top three categories of goods and services suspected of illegal advertising in traditional media were nutritional products, regular food, and health food, accounting for a combined proportion of up to 70%. The report shows that in the first quarter, a total of more than 980,000 traditional media advertisements, including television, radio, and print, were monitored in the city, accounting for 68%, 25%, and 7% of the monitoring volume, respectively. The suspected illegal advertising in traditional media mainly involves claims of health functions and the use of medical or drug-related language in nutritional and regular food advertisements, as well as assertions or guarantees of efficacy and safety in health food advertisements.
