Wahaha’s Depression-Improving Lactobacillus Gained Patent Authorization

Recently, Hangzhou Wahaha Group has been granted a patent for their invention titled “Lactic Acid Bacteria with Depression-Improving Effects and Their Applications”. The abstract of the patent indicates that the lactobacillus strain Lactococcus lactis WHH2078 in this invention possesses good adhesive properties, acid and bile salt resistance, and intestinal barrier protection function. It significantly reduces serum corticosterone levels and alleviates depressive-like behavior by modulating depression-related neurofactors, thereby exhibiting notable effects in improving depression. The strain also exhibits excellent fermentation characteristics, making it suitable for use in fermented milk products, as well as in pharmaceuticals, health supplements, or food products for the prevention and treatment of depression.
