The National Health Commission Has Issued the “Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Obesity (2024 Edition).”

In recent years, the prevalence of overweight and obesity in China has continued to rise. As an independent chronic disease and a significant contributing factor to various chronic diseases, obesity has become a major public health issue in China and is the sixth leading risk factor for death and disability. The guidelines, issued on October 17, aim to standardize clinical diagnosis and treatment of obesity in China, providing personalized treatment plans for patients and improving the consistency and effectiveness of obesity treatment to enhance long-term outcomes.
