PQQ, Lianghe Gleditsia Sinensis, and Glutathione-Rich Yeast Added to the Terminated Review List for New Food Ingredients

Recently, through the National Health Commission’s (NHC) Administrative Licensing Query System, it was revealed that the Terminated Review List for New Food Ingredients now includes pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt (PQQ), Lianghe Gleditsia sinensis, and glutathione-rich yeast powder (formerly “glutathione yeast”). As of now, 86 new food ingredients have been terminated from review.

  • Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Disodium Salt (PQQ)
    Review Opinion: This product is manufactured using the strain Hyphomicrobium denitrificans MQ004-2 through fermentation, filtration, purification, crystallization, and drying. It is substantially equivalent to the PQQ disodium salt announced in the 2023 Bulletin No. 8, except for production methods. Other requirements will follow the previously announced standards.
  • Lianghe Gleditsia Sinensis
    Review Opinion: This product has traditional local consumption history and is managed under Article 29 of the Food Safety Law. The review has been terminated.
  • Glutathione-Rich Yeast Powder
    Review Opinion: This product is produced using Saccharomyces cerevisiae through cultivation, fermentation, enzymatic hydrolysis, optional centrifugation, and drying. It primarily contains proteins and glutathione, along with fats, amino acids, and minerals. The product complies with the Quality Requirements for Yeast Products Part 2: Processed Yeast Products (GB/T 20886.2-2021). (Source: NHC)
