In accordance with the “Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China” and its implementation regulations, as well as the “Management Measures for the Directory of Health Food Ingredients and Health Functions,” the General Administration of Market Supervision launched a public consultation from July 29 to December 31, 2024, on the “Proposed Directory of Health Functions Permitted for Claims in Health Foods.” A total of 33 suggestions from 12 companies were received regarding health functions that could be added to the directory. The suggestions primarily focused on two categories: “Maintaining or Improving Health Status” (26 suggestions) and “Health Functions Guided by Traditional Chinese Medicine Theories” (7 suggestions). The Special Food Department will organize the Food Evaluation Center to thoroughly research and evaluate these suggestions, proceeding with the necessary steps to advance the work in accordance with procedures.
