Scientific Report on New Health Functions of Probiotics Released

Between 2024 and 2025, the Probiotic Branch of the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology compiled and released a scientific report titled “Scientific Evidence on the New Health Functions of Probiotics”. Based on the latest evidence regarding the roles of probiotics in weight management, lipid regulation, and Helicobacter pylori (Hp) control, experts in the field reached the following consensus:

Probiotic function claims must be grounded in solid scientific evidence.

Probiotics can regulate body weight by modulating the gut microbiota composition and its metabolic products.

Probiotics may improve blood lipid profiles by influencing lipid metabolism and reducing lipid absorption.

Probiotics play a key role in the adjunctive management of Helicobacter pylori infections.

Future research should focus on developing robust strain-specific functional evaluation methods.
