Candies, Beverages, Chocolate, and Jelly May Be Included in the Filing Dosage Forms for Health Foods

On October 11, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued an announcement soliciting public comments on the Health Food Filing Product Dosage Forms and Technical Requirements (2024 Draft for Public Comment) and the Health Food Filing Product Permitted Excipients and Their Usage Regulations (2024 Draft for Public Comment) (hereinafter referred to as the 2024 Draft for Public Comment). This aims to promote high-quality filing management for health foods. The highlight of the draft is the expanded dosage forms for health food products in the nutritional supplement category, adding food forms that are more readily accepted by the general public, such as candies, beverages, chocolates, jellies, and powders. Additionally, the document specifies the target population, non-suitable groups, as well as the technical requirements for production and quality for these forms. It also sets a daily sugar intake limit for these products, ensuring stable product quality while reducing the risks associated with excessive sugar consumption, thereby better safeguarding consumer health. The deadline for submitting public comments is November 11, 2024. (Source: State Administration for Market Regulation)
