AKK PROBIO Live Probiotics Achieve GRAS Certification

On February 14, Thankcome Biological Science and Technology Co., Ltd. announced that its self-developed Akkermansia muciniphila AKK PROBIO live probiotic strain had successfully passed the U.S. GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) certification review. This marks a significant breakthrough following the GRAS certification of the inactivated AKK PROBIO strain in October 2024.

This achievement establishes China’s first dual-format international safety certification system for AKK bacteria in both live and inactivated forms, setting a new scientific benchmark for next-generation probiotics in global applications. Following the announcement, the news garnered widespread media attention and extensive coverage.

With this certification, Thankcome has become the world’s first company to obtain “dual-track safety certification” for both live and inactivated AKK bacteria, setting an international safety standard for the industrial application of next-generation probiotics.
