Tariff Exemption: White House Exempts Key Dietary Ingredients from Tariffs

On April 2, 2025, President Trump announced a global 10% tariff policy, along with higher reciprocal tariffs on specific countries, which shook the global market. Attached to the executive order Attachment II, titled “Reciprocal Tariffs on Imports to Correct Trade Imbalances,” a list of exempted dietary ingredients was included. This 37-page document lists:

  • Vitamins: A, B1, B2, B5, B6, B12, C, E, Folate (B9), Niacin, Niacinamide (B3)
  • Coenzyme Q10, Choline
  • Various Amino Acids and Minerals
  • Fatty Acids from animal or plant sources, including fish oil.
    This exemption is significant for the importation of certain health ingredients into the United States. (Source: FFI)
