Asahi Group launched a new product in Japan—LIKE MILK, touted as Japan’s first yeast-derived non-dairy milk alternative. Developed with proprietary yeast technology, LIKE MILK targets consumers seeking alternatives to traditional dairy, particularly those with food allergies or special dietary needs. The product was made available for pre-order through the “Makuake” crowdfunding platform from April 16 to June 15, 2025, with plans for a full nationwide launch in 2026. LIKE MILK is free of 28 common allergens, has a mild, natural sweetness with no strong aftertaste, and offers a nutritional profile comparable to cow’s milk, containing equivalent amounts of protein and calcium but with 38% less fat.
