The dietary fiber market continues to grow. According to data from the Dietary Fiber Technology Branch of the China Biotechnology Pharmaceutical Association, the total output of the global dietary fiber industry in 2019 was 866,600 tons, with a production value of approximately USD 2.82 billion. China’s dietary fiber industry had a total output of 189,500 tons, with a value of approximately USD 0.60 billion, which is about one-fifth of the global output. It is estimated that by 2026, the total output of the global dietary fiber industry will reach 1.2249 million tons, with a total value of approximately USD 3.59 billion. China’s dietary fiber industry’s total output will increase to 303,600 tons, with a total value of approximately USD 0.86 billion.
Fiber-enhanced products are also starting to stand out. Data from Innova Market Insight shows that from 2017 to 2021, the annual growth rate of new food and beverage products with high fiber-related claims tracked globally was 7%. According to the Global New Products Database (GNPD) of Mintel, globally, food and beverage new products with probiotic/dietary fiber-related ingredients have grown rapidly between 2012-2013 and 2017-2019, with more than 52,000 new products accumulated so far.
According to data from Guanyan World, nearly half of the global dietary fiber was applied to dairy products and food and beverages in 2020, followed by health products and infant food, accounting for 29.98%. Meat processed foods and baked goods are both less than 10%, still having considerable growth space. It is predicted that from 2020 to 2026, the fastest-growing field for dietary fiber application will be health products and infant food, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.25%. (Source: FTA)
