Analysis of Domestic Health Food Ingredient Filings for the First Half of 2024

As of July 16, 2024, data from the State Administration for Market Regulation’s website shows that there have been 2,347 domestic health food filings with batch numbers for 2024, representing 409 companies and 1,012 brands. Compared to previous years, the numbers are continually increasing. Currently, among the top 10 filing companies, a significant proportion are OEM enterprises. Baihe Biological tops the list with 217 successfully filed products in the first half of the year.

In terms of nutritional supplements, there have been 1,326 products filed, accounting for 56.49% of the total. For non-nutritional supplements, there have been 1,021 products filed, making up 43.50% of the total. In the first half of the year, there have been 61 filings for algae oil DHA products.

Regarding functional ingredients, among the first batch of five registered ingredients, Coenzyme Q10 saw 234 filings in the first half of the year, followed by cracked Ganoderma lucidum spore powder (181 filings) and fish oil (125 filings).

In the first half of the year, protein powder products saw 339 filings (including soy protein isolate and whey protein). On May 1, 2024, the official implementation of the “Technical Requirements for Filing Health Food Ingredients Ginseng, American Ginseng, and Ganoderma lucidum” marked the official entry of these three ingredients into the filing stage.
