Probiotics China News Bites – December 2021

-On December 22, 2021, at the NHEC 2021 (4th) China Nutrition and Health Industry Entrepreneurs Annual Meeting, Hebei Yiran Biotechnology Co., Ltd. won the “2021 Probiotic Industry Outstanding Contribution Award”, its product Yiran Nuoaijia won the “2021 Best-Selling Product in the Probiotics Industry”, and Chairman Zhao Linsen also won the “2021 Probiotics Industry Leader”

-JuneYao Group’s exclusive brand WeiDongli officially launched 120 billion high-activity probiotic solid beverages, embarking on the road of upgrading its probiotic products from 10 billion to 100 billion.

-Ketuo Bio released a record form of investor relations activities and received surveys from 27 institutions. Ketuo Bio said that compared with well-known foreign probiotic companies, although the company started a little later in the research and development of probiotics, the company has been catching up quickly in recent years and now is basically at the same level. The company selected “a strain of Lactobacillus crispatus (CCFM1118) that can prevent or treat Helicobacter pylori infection” for the first phase of research and development.

-ffit8 co-branded Minions to release a probiotic protein powder product.

-Jinmailang launched the new product “Lu Suanjun”, a normal temperature lactic acid bacteria drink with strains from Japan.

-Haoqu R&D team launched a total of 12 pet nutrition products, including probiotic products for cats.

-BioGaia AB (publ) has, through its US subsidiary BioGaia Biologics Inc, signed an agreement to acquire all shares in Nutraceutics Corporation (“Nutraceutics”) with EUR 8.6 million.

-Chr. Hansen’s new generation of FreshQ® strains has won the Food Innovation Technology Award at FoodIngredients Europe 2021.

-Novozymes acquired a majority stake in Synergia Life Sciences Pte Ltd, a leading player in the field of spore probiotics and vitamin K2-7, for a cash payment of DKK 1 billion.

-P&G has continued to build its prestige beauty business, following its acquisitions of Farmacy in November 2021 and Ouai in December 2021, with the purchase of Tula. Tula skincare products are known for its Probiotics and nutrient-dense food ingredients

-The “Carcinogens Report (15th Edition)” issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services lists Helicobacter pylori as a clear carcinogen.

-Sanofi has signed an agreement to buy Origimm Biotechnology, an Austria-based privately owned biotechnology company with focus on virulent skin microbiome components and antigens from bacteria causing skin disease

-Unilever has partnered with the gut microbiome experts at Holobiome to identify food and drink ingredients that could have a positive impact on mental wellbeing by targeting the gut-brain axis.
