Probiotics China News Bites – January 2023

  • Lallemand Health Solutions (Lallemand) has announced the launch of the first organic version of its probiotic yeast Saccharomyces boulardii. Additionally, the organic version of S. boulardii is available in powder form and as a purely organic ingredient in organic dietary supplements. According to relevant research by Lallemand, the product can maintain the stability of the shelf life of 24 months at 25℃, and the concentration is 20 billion CFU/g.
  • The cooperation between Lallemand and Grand Défi Ferments du Futu will use the R&D and innovation in the field of fermentation to meet the needs of agriculture, food and other fields, and develop new foods based on vegetables, grains, beans, milk or fruits, and in the development, finding new value in waste.
  • Friesland has entered into a partnership with biotechnology company Triplebar Bio, in which the parties will use precision fermentation technology to produce microbial cells to support the development of bioactive proteins for human health and nutrition.
  • DSM partnered with Sun Genomics’ Floré and invested in the company’s customizable probiotics through DSM Venturing. It is reported that Floré uses patented whole DNA genome sequencing and intestinal composition analysis to provide customized probiotics for specific intestinal flora. Meanwhile, the company can detect more than 23,000 species of organisms, including fungi, bacteria, yeast, viruses and parasites.
  • IFF has reached an agreement to sell its Savory Solutions Group to PAI Partners for about $900 million, with profits after interest and taxes to be used to repay outstanding debt. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2023.
  • Dr. Philippe Horvath, a well-known molecular biologist and IFF technical fellow, was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame® in 2023. Dr. Horvath will be officially recognized for two patents on CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) and related Cas proteins that underlie the acquired immune system of bacteria. The official induction ceremony will be held in Washington, USA in October 2023.
  • In accordance with the requirements of the “Working Procedures for Formulation and Revision of Group Standards of China Bio-fermentation Industry Association”, the group standard of “Probiotic Products Lactic Acid Bacteria Postbiotics” reviewed and approved by the association was released.
  • Wandashan has launched a new product, Yuanru Zhenyi, which has added important star nutrients such as milk fat globular membrane protein MFGM, DHA+ARA, OPO, double prebiotics and lutein, and has officially entered the small molecule protein milk powder track.
  • Recently, orders for vitamin C, probiotics, and coenzyme Q10 have surged in Biohigh Co., Ltd., and the supply of products is in short supply. The company is producing at full capacity by adjusting the production line.

  • On January 6, Huahuaniu announced the launch of a new generation of probiotic-flavored fermented milk with a net content of 150g. According to reports, 100% raw milk is used for fermentation, which contains high-quality milk protein 30% higher than the national standard, and 5 kinds of active lactic acid bacteria are added at the same time.
  • On January 3, Scitop Biology (300858.SZ) disclosed a report on the issuance of stocks to specific targets, confirming that the issue price is 26.18 yuan per share, the number of shares issued is 26,737,967 shares, and the total amount of funds raised is about 700 million yuan.
  • Mengniu Dairy’s official WeChat message shows that the Qujing normal temperature factory under Mengniu Group has passed the audit of TüV Rheinland, Germany, and obtained the carbon neutral and zero carbon factory certification.
  • On January 3, Yili launched the activity of “Traveling in Yili to Visit the Global Industrial Chain” to the world.   • On December 26, WonderLab officially announced the launch of the new Wuyou Guard™ Probiotic Capsules. According to reports, the new product contains 20 billion Wuyouguard™ bacteria and patented Pylopass bacteria + fucoidan, double-evolved U bacteria; it is combined with soybean protein powder and turmeric to gently nourish the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Recently, the European Commission has approved the establishment of a joint venture between Royal DSM Group and Fonterra Cooperative Group Co., Ltd. in New Zealand.
  • Youran Dairy, Yili Dairy and Ausnutria Dairy jointly established the company “Yiqi Technology”.
