  • According to the “Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China”, the “Management Measures for the Catalog of Health Food Raw Materials and the Catalog of Health Functions”, the State Administration for Market Regulation, together with the National Health Commission and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, adjusted the “Catalogue of Health Food Raw Materials Nutrient Supplements (2023 Edition) )”, “Catalogue of Health Functions Allowed for Health Food Claims Nutrient Supplements (2023 Edition)”, formulated “Catalogue of Health Food Raw Materials Soybean Protein Isolate” and “Catalogue of Health Food Raw Materials Whey Protein”, hereby announced, since October 1st 2023 it will come into force.
  • On June 14, Junlebao launched a new product N-15 probiotics. It is understood that this product contains special patented probiotics N1115, which have acid resistance and bile salt resistance, and can reach the intestinal tract alive to maintain the homeostasis of intestinal flora. The new product does not contain sucrose, flavors, or pigments. It is fermented with 100% raw milk and has a delicate and smooth taste.
  • On June 13, Chobani announced the launch of Chobani ® Zero Sugar Drinks, an innovative zero-sugar product in a convenient drink format that provides consumers with a protein-rich, ready-to-drink drink made from natural ingredients. It is reported that this series of products are freely fermented, do not contain any lactose and preservatives, and contain only 50 calories per serving.
  • Recently, Mengniu Sour Milk Lactobacillus Fruit Tea launched a new bottled product “Iced Shake Lemon Tea”. In June last year, Mengniu Sour Yogurt aimed at the family consumption scene and launched a boxed lactic acid bacteria fruit tea drink.
  • The new product “Fermented Tangerine & Lemon” jointly developed by SAPPORO and Yakult Headquarters will be available in limited quantities in Japan from June 19, 2023. This product uses lactic acid bacteria LP0132 provided by Yakult, which is suitable for fermenting Wenzhou satsuma juice, to make lactic acid bacteria fermented satsuma juice; and uses lemon juice with high acidity and difficult to ferment to make lemon vinegar. It is a “fermentation material mixed drinks” jointly developed by the two companies.”
  • A few days ago, Unilever said that it will acquire North American frozen yogurt brand Yasso Holdings (Yasso Holdings). It has not disclosed financial details related to the transaction. It is expected that the transaction will be completed in the third quarter of 2023.

  • At the 10th Danone Nutricia Nutrition International Symposium held recently, the preliminary research results of the first “Kirin Project” designed and carried out in China initiated by the Danone Open Research Center were announced, showing the short-chain oligomeric semi- effects of a combination of lactose (scGOS) and long-chain polyfructose (lcFOS) prebiotics on gut health in Chinese infants and young children. According to Gong Sitang, director of the Kirin Project and a professor at Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center, using the combination of scGOS/lcFOS prebiotics can help infants increase the relative abundance and diversity of bifidobacteria in the intestinal tract, and help inhibit some pathogenic bacteria growth. At the annual meeting of the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Kirin research was included and published.
  • Sanofi has partnered with AB-BIOTICS in South Korea to launch a probiotic product called Superbiotics Cholesterol. The product belongs to the brand Cenovis, which is currently sold exclusively on the Korean shopping channel and is the first Class II dual-function probiotic approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) for gut health and improvement of blood cholesterol levels.
