On March 12, the National Health Commission website publicly released the “National Food Safety Standards for the Use of Food Additives” (GB 2760-2024), with a specific implementation date of February 8, 2025. There are 24 functional categories of food additives in the new version of the standard (D.23). The specific categories that can be used have changed compared with the 2014 version, involving the use of preservatives in canned foods and the total amount of sweeteners used in the same food category, restrictions on the use of dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt, restrictions on the use of processing aid hydrogen peroxide, etc. (Source: Food Safety Standards and Monitoring and Evaluation Department)
