Food Company Fined for False Advertising on Health Food Approvals

A company in Jiyuan City, Henan Province, was fined RMB 200,000 yuan (USD $29,000) for false advertising on a website claiming to have over 60 health food approvals. The market supervision in Jiyuan City stated that the company in question is a regular food producer with only a production license for confectionery and beverage products. However, the company falsely claimed on the platform to be a specialized enterprise engaged in the research, production, sales, and technical services of health food, without obtaining any health food production license. The nutrition and health market in China is entering a new phase, with health food gradually moving towards a lifestyle-oriented and science-based development, along with a more regulated industry.
